At least Tesla can spell Tesla

What’s the first thing children learn how to spell at school?

Their name.

Now imagine your child has a unique name and someone at school can’t seem to get the spelling right.  Even worse, imagine your spouse has a significant other that is very involved with your child’s life and that person can’t spell your child’s name.

It is a fact, Tesla brings home school papers and SOMEONE is constantly spelling her name wrong.  It’s spelled just like it sounds, so why is this so difficult for an adult to grasp.  Tesla has it down, why can’t her school/dad’s girlfriend, get it right?!

Helpful hints:  She is named after Nikola Tesla.

Nikola Tesla  10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor, mechanical engineer, and electrical engineer. He was an important contributor to the birth of commercial electricity, and is best known for his many revolutionary developments in the field of electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

If that is just to much history to remember, here is another helpful hint:

Tesla is an American hard rock band formed in Sacramento, California in 1984. They have sold 14 million albums in the United States.    The band derived their name, certain album and song titles, and some song content from events relating to inventor and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla.

So here are my thoughts:

1. If the teacher/teacher assistant can’t get Tesla’s name spelled correctly, she shouldn’t be attending that school.

2. If Heather can’t spell Tesla’s name….well, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

Crossing my fingers for a transfer from East York schools to West York schools!

Dear Heather~who’s book bag

Dear Heather,

Since having a conversation with you or John is impossible, I will address this problem with a letter.

What exactly is the reasoning behind Tesla not being allowed to take her book bag home when I pick her up?  Even if YOU did pay for it, isn’t it still Tesla’s?  Or did you write Heather King on the inside and I missed it?

Why does Tesla have “special clothes” that she can only wear while visiting her dad?  Are your children wearing the same clothes as Tesla?  Is there confusion with all the handwritten “Dad” and “Mom” on the tags? http://girlboxer1970.com/2011/02/21/obsessed-with-everything/

Your actions and refusal to allow Tesla her belongings has an effect on Tesla and shows how pathetic you are in trying to control MY daughter’s life.

If Tesla owns something, whether it is clothing, book bag, toys etc. she should be able to have her belongings with her no matter which home she is at.

You don’t own my child.

2 hours at York County Courthouse

Well, the day finally arrived.   Custody hearing was scheduled for 1:30 pm today.  This hearing was a “special hearing” and scheduled over a month ago.  So much for special.

My son Jarrid was at the courthouse at 1 pm.  Dale, Kristin, Kym and I arrived at 1:15.  My lawyer, Rob Krug was already there.  John was present and had Heather, LaDonna, Diane (first wife) and Todd (step-son) there.  I feel a bit bad that he is dragging all these people in to testify.  I said hi to Diane and Todd.  LaDonna came over and we chatted for a good while.  I hadn’t seen her wedding rings in person yet.

Well, I don’t feel bad for Heather.  Her testimony should be interesting.   Maybe John’s attorney, Doug France won’t have her testify.  I didn’t see John’s other attorney, Laurin Kearny.  She was ripped up one side and down the other by Judge Dorney during one of the previous hearing.  I found it very amusing….

There was no testimony today.  The custody hearing before ours was running way over its scheduled time.  Judge Dorney insisted we wait and finally around 3:30 pm she sent out a note rescheduling for tomorrow at 1:30 pm.  What a wasted day.  I missed classes today, will miss classes tomorrow and lose most of Friday with all this court dates.

How frustrating!  So tomorrow, John and crew will take the stand as he is the complainant.  Friday myself, Dale and Jarrid will testify.  Of course we can recall any of John’s witnesses and question John.

Will keep you posted!!

Thanks for all your messages and visits today!

Back to feeding the meters tomorrow,

~P.

Dear John~ What is your issue?

Dear John,

What is your issue?  Because I’m just not understanding why there are so many complications with the current joint custody arrangement.

Tomorrow we go to court and a judge will decide who has Tesla’s best interest in mind.

In the meantime, it seems as though Heather has just taken over in Tesla’s life.  Examples of this are easy to see.  Writing DAD inside Tesla’s clothes clearly came from Heather.  Heather frequently has Tesla while you are away, be it work, estimates, softball, etc.  Heather volunteered in Tesla’s room without so much as a word to me first.  She writes nasty notes on Tesla’s school papers.  If I don’t request Tesla’s book bag, no one sends it out with her.  I finally had to say something to Tesla’s teacher Ms. Dettinger because I wasn’t seeing anything Tesla did in school, her letter/word ring or her reading log.  So John, what do I find today?

After requesting her bookbag again, I find inside her reading log.

Could Heather try any harder to make me look bad?

Where is DAD’s signature anywhere on this paper?  What reason would the log need to be specified at “Dad’s House”?  If the log is Sept-Oct, why the hell haven’t I seen it in Tesla’s bookbag over the past two months?

I shouldn’t have your girlfriend drama to deal with.

Court tomorrow,

~P.

What to do…what to do?

Amusing the photographer, Tesla

I have a few days left of fall break before it’s back to classes.  My weekend flew by with Dale and Tesla.  Tesla and I spent a good portion of Friday painting.  I painted my sculpture for art class.  We had to do a figurative piece that had personal meaning.  I created a self-portrait and painted it to reflect emotion.  We did not paint my car again like we did this day when boredom struck….hard.  http://wp.me/p1j2Ur-lV.  We spent the day with Aunt Suzie and Blaine.  Dale met us at Pinchot Park and we had a nice time.  I kept sticking Suz with Ying patrol.  He annoys her.  I laugh.

So today I have quite a list of things to accomplish:

1. Find Tesla’s dance leotard.  John already let me a message this morning because I didn’t send it Friday or this morning.  I don’t know what the heck Tesla did with the leotard or the t-shirt she had on when I picked her up from Heather.  That was the same night Heather refused to let Tesla keep her leopard stuffed animal in her bedroom at John’s.

2. This goes along with number one.  Put away all the clean laundry from the weekend.  I have 3-4 baskets of clothes.  I’ve lost count.  I only do laundry on the weekends to save on electric.  If it’s nice out, I even hang sum up to dry.  Dale thinks I’m crazy as he just drys everything.

3.  Work on my literature class presentation on “The Hellbound Heart” and the movie, Hellraiser, by Clive Barker.  I am trying to make a slideshow picture to accompany the selected portions of the book I will read aloud to class.  I love to do presentations and take front center stage…I mean class.

4. Spanish a presentation as Carl Brady with my daughters Marsha and Cindy.  Marsha is Kristin James http://www.facebook.com/kristinmischelle.  Cindy is Olivia Sederstrom. http://www.facebook.com/osederstrom.  We are having fun with this and I will eventually blog about our presentation.

5. Religion:  Cult writing.  Might blog it online.  Any suggestions out there on wtf I can write…I have many ideas:  Lady Gaga as a type of disciple.  A really wacky one with Illuminated symbols, Satanic symbols.  The “Text” in The Lady’s Guide Stones, located in GA.  At the Georgia Guide Stones are the text inscribed in many languages. http://girlboxer1970.com/2011/02/26/the-georgia-guidestones/ I actually wrote about those long before I even knew I was enrolling in this NRMs class.  http://girlboxer1970.com/2011/09/29/gender-roles-in-new-religions/

6.  Kitchen: put away clean dishes.  (Dale washes all the dishes.  That is so awesome because I hate getting my hands wet.)  Mop floor, clear of island, finishing clearing the table.

7.  Clear coffee table of school books.  vacuum.

8. Paint my second sculpture.  I haven’t named it yet.  Will post pictures of the process.

9.  Read Sunday’s paper.  Was so busy at Pinchot Park I didn’t get to read much of it.

10.  Blog about Pinchot Park yesterday and the chainsaw carving I took pictures of all weekend.  It’s located on Druck Valley Road.

Will attempt the whole list.

Tommorrows another day,

~P.

My leg is hungry

Now these are "starving legs"

It’s been a long day on campus and I am ready to hit the road.  Fall break has officially started!  Right now my head has a mild thump and if I don’t feed my leg soon, it will evolve into a full-blown headache.

Tesla coined that cute phrase, “my leg is hungry” about a month ago.  Its stuck in my head and whenever my stomach begins to growl I blame it on my empty leg.  If Tesla is really hungry she will say “both my legs are hungry” with a silly grin on her face.  She loves to crack me up with her silly sayings.

Do you and your child have any cute phrases that only the two of you understand?  Comment them to me and let everyone in on its cuteness 🙂

Walking on empty legs,

~P.

Oh what a Happy Birthday

I turned 41 today.  Ying turned 3.  I’m waiting for Ying to catch up to me in age.

My day started great!  Reading comments on my blog and birthday wishes on Facebook.  Dale and I left to pick up Tesla at 11:30 AM.  We arrived to get Tesla a little bit after noon.  I was disappointed that John hadn’t bothered to dress Tesla up a little bit.  When I asked her if she had pajama pants on, Heather yelled up to the car, “They’re pants!  Not pajamas!”

Pajamas or pants?

So Tesla climbed in the front seat and I fastened her seat belt over her booster seat.  Heather came up and began to inform me that I can’t let Tesla sit in the front because it is against the law.  I honestly don’t know if it IS against the law or not.  She’s about 60 lbs and the seatbelt fits her in all the right places.  Even if I am ignorant of the law, why the hell is Heather up in my grill about it?  Didn’t she learn in Child First classes that it’s not appropriate to bitch a child’s mom out in front of them?
She also informed me that Tesla’s letters were in the birthday gift bag.  I checked it out later and it’s obvious to me that HEATHER likes to add her own comments on my daughter’s school papers.
I'm certain Tesla's teacher is NOT writing me these type of notes.

Just for the record, I never received a first copy and I know I didn’t LOSS it.

My birthday gift from Tesla was a framed picture.  She is growing up sooooo fast!!

Pretty as a Rose

Yo Gabba Gabba was awesome!  Drew and Tesla loved it.  Heck, I loved it.  Dale, well he was with us and a bit confused…

I forgot my phone when we left for the show.  John called 8 times.  I’m glad I forgot my phone.

Nobody was home,

~P.

Dear John XIII

Drama

Dear John,

No, I didn’t forget that Tesla had an appointment with a counselor today.  I was under the impression a parent was to be there to fill out the paperwork, not sit in during her session.  I find it appalling that you would take Heather along and think it would be acceptable for her to sit in during the session.  I’m her mother and had no expectations or desire to invade Tesla’s private time with her counselor.  I’m GLAD the counselor made Heather leave as she had no business attending to start with.

I have an appointment next week to speak with Tesla’s counselor.  The counseling appointments are not to have a professional decide who Tesla should live with, they are to give Tesla the opportunity to talk, in private, to a third-party.  She should feel safe and free to talk about her feelings without having the concern of upsetting her parents.

The LAST person who should have shown up for this appointment is your current girlfriend.  I will share my thoughts and opinions with this counselor, as you did.  I can’t imagine that us sitting together would have accomplished anything anyway.  To date, we have yet to sit down together, alone or with a mediator, and reach any type of agreement.  Why is that?  Because, if it’s not what you want, you will not even try to reach a compromise.

Give our child some breathing room.  She has a brain, her own thoughts and opinions.  While you may not want her to voice them, she will eventually.  You may not like what she has to say, but it’s not about you.  It’s about her and her future.

Promoting freedom of thought,

~P.

P.S. As Tesla told me tonight, you are still playing softball.  What happened to Tesla being in bed at 8 PM?  That schedule you insisted we should follow….guess it doesn’t apply when you’re out having your extra curricular activities.  At 9:28 PM she still wasn’t home, much then yet in bed.  Roll your activities and the ones you have taken the liberty to enroll Tesla in, when does she have time to be a kid?  Dad plays softball, runs a business, gives estimates, (still bowling?  Playing poker?)  Tesla takes gymnastics and dance lessons.  You wanted her to take swim lessons and mentioned her taking riding lessons next month and tonight Tesla said she will be old enough to start T-ball next year.  Talk about over-filling a childs schedule!

Downtown Fun

The Rev's crazy mascot, Downtown

Watching the York Revolution’s play ball is always fun.  When possible, I take Tesla along with me.  There is a draw back to taking Tesla; I don’t get to watch much of the game.

My Doodle Bug

The playground is much more interesting to her than the men with bats trying to hit the ball.  She hates when a home run is hit and the cannon goes off.  She even asks me, at least twenty or more times during the game if it’s going to boom.

Downtown's Web

Dale, Tesla and I went to the game Saturday night with Traci Murray and Deanna Maruski, friends of mine from Dover Highschool.  While Tesla and I were at the playground (and I was missing the game) I ran into the VanGeisen family and Tesla got to meet her cousin Colin.  I honestly don’t know if Tesla would have ever met him otherwise as I get the impression John doesn’t talk to his family much.  Last time I saw Colin he was an infant and Tesla was just a little over a year old.

Meeting her cousin Colin

A very cool addition to the stadium is the huge Downtown bobble head.  We don’t have room for a bobble head that big but I wish they sold small ones in the gift shop.  Even better would be Downtown posters!

Super Sized

After quite a bit of searching we finally found Downtown in the stands.  He jumped up on the dugout for a photo with Tesla.  Dale held Tesla’s ice cream cone and she warned him if he ate it she would be really mad.

The real deal

We left the game while it was still tied.  The Rev’s were playing the Blue Crabs and the game was exciting but Tesla was getting tired…and so was mommy.

What a cheeser!!

Deanna texted me later that evening that the Rev’s did win.  I wish we could have stayed but Tesla was so tired when we got home she didn’t even want to watch cartoons in her bedroom!

Go Rev’s!!!!

~P.

Boredom Happens

Tesla and I were painting pictures and it just didn’t seem exciting enough.  Paper after paper…and suddenly I had a flash of brilliance!  Ok, I guess it depends on what you think is brilliant, but Tesla thought my idea was THE BOMB!

Who needs paper when you have a car?
