Suicide and that Helpless Feeling
Suicide. People take their lives everyday around the world. Each person has their reason, some never sharing why. It crushes the world of those left behind; they must work hard to get past the loss of someone they love. Survivors are left sorting out where they felt they went wrong. What signals they missed.
What if you never felt loved by your family? If you had no friends, no family, and moved from town to town? It pains me to think of all the children in the world that are suffering at the hands of their own parents, and can not find a safe person to reach out for help.
I’ve become friends with a young man who has been through hell. Brutality, starvation and isolation his entire life. His only allies were his siblings. By finally alerting the police while his parents were away, he removed himself and his brothers and sisters from this house of hell and is free from the abuse, but he is anger, depressed and suicidal. We are talking and I am praying for him.. I ask that you pray for him also. His name begins with an M. God will know who your are praying about. Pray for his parents also, to realize their sins and the damage they have caused to their children.
I will share more.
God Bless and thank you for reading. I have genuine concern about this young man and would be sad beyond words if he dies at his own hands, now that he has taken over his life.

Red Lion PA Splash Pad at Fairmount Park
Today, my neighbor Deb and I went to Fairmount Park, to the new Splash Pad in Red Lion, PA. We had my daughter Tesla, nephew Blaine and Deb’s grandson, Tyler, with us. The Red Lion Borough was awarded a grant from the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the amazing improvements made to Fairmount Park.
We arrived at 1 PM and easily found parking behind Kaltreider Library. Tesla and I changed our clothes in the bathroom. The bathrooms were clean in my opinion. The tile floor was wet and had some dirt making its way to the drain, completely understandable in a newly created water park with grass just beginning to grow. There were some stray pieces of toilet paper on the floor. That single ply stuff that tends to melt as soon as wet hands touch it. Most important, the toilets, sinks, water fountains, and baby changing areas were clean.
After settling on a picnic table under the beautiful new pavilion, I began taking pictures and talking to the other parents hanging out watching the children play. When the water would stop to recycle, all the kids would get quiet. Once the water came back on, the squeals of delight filled the air and brought smiles to the parent’s faces.

I spoke to Stephanie Henry, a resident of Dallastown. She said she heard about the comments on the York Daily Record Facebook page but had not read the article personally. Henry and her family love the water park and stated anyone should be able to bring their children to enjoy the water. Their concern is that adults will drop children and teens off at the park and let them unattended. The park rules state all children under 7 must be attended. Henry is concerned about older kids arriving alone and bullying the younger children.
Russell Keech, of Red Lion, lives in walking distance of the park said he has brought his girlfriend and their young children many times since the park opened and never had any problems. He is most worried about the park being destroyed . “If there are large amounts of people here, there won’t be any vandalism.” Rachelle Zekler and Mindy Radzik, both from Red Lion, joined in the conversation stating in “no way should people outside of Red Lion feel they are not welcome.”
Another Red Lion local, Carla, who asked her last name not be used, stated her biggest concerns are “youth tagging and destroying” the new park. She also feels parents must watch their children to ensure their safety. “Watch your kids so they don’t get hurt or hurt someone else. Kids bump into each other, it just happens.”
I was asked if Red Lion plans to begin charging for entry to the park. I could not answer that question because I don’t know myself. To charge for entry would leave a bad taste in people’s mouth. I was also asked if there was someone on location and I answered, “I don’t believe so because the pad is “unsupervised” according to the sign, though it is being monitored by camera.
During the three hours we were there, I did not see one police officer or cruiser’s presence. This was disappointing to me. At least once an hour, a cruiser driving by would at least bring peace of mind that some sort of authority figure was keeping an eye on things in person, and not via a camera monitor. Even after the park closes for the day, the police should be driving by, ensuring the conditions of this amazing park.
The new playground equipment was also in demand for children wishing to take a break from the water.
Our visit to the Splash Pad was fantastic. The other families chatted with each other and shared food. The playground was active with happy children. No one was smoking in the areas marked “No Smoking” but instead choosing to walk about 25 feet away. I did not encounter a single bad attitude about residents outside of Red Lion coming to enjoy the park. To be honest, the Red Lion residents were happy to share this newly granted park with others in the county and proud to have it as part of their community. ~P.
I Want the Moon
I remember Jarrid saying this over and over when he was about two. The moon is tough to get, just ask Gru in Despicable Me. (My favorite kid movie ever, closely followed by MegaMind) ~P.
3 Car Accident on Route 74 York, PA
Shortly after 11 PM the owner of China Wok closed his restaurant and left for his home. Exiting the parking lot of Rutter’s Farm Store in his maroon mini van, he pulled onto Route 74 N towards Dover, PA and was rear ended by a Toyota Tundra truck. The two vehicles hit the embankment along the Shiloh Church Cemetery before hitting a small car. The restaurant owners mini van was in the middle of Rt 74. The truck and small, black, car came to rest on the opposite side of the road, on the embankment. A minimum of 8 people were involved in this accident. Multiple people were taken away by ambulance. ~P.

Squished Boobies with Silver Ball Nipples
I had my first mammogram today. I knew the squishing part was coming, but the little stickers with the silver ball threw me for a curve. They looked like a small BB or one of those candies on cakes. But could pass as tiny pasties for strippers, that in no way, would cover their nipples. The nipple stickers were kind of cool, making me feel somewhat sexy, while waiting for the squishing part to begin.
The tech knew what she was doing, effectively getting my entire breast between two pieces of Plexiglas, and squishing it like a pancake. My temporary nipple jewelry created a marker on the x-ray film. I was impressed how flat they were for the x-ray process, yet looked so full and huge looking on the film. Honestly, they looked like large goblets to hold wine in, with a jewel where the stem would begin to form.
So I should hear next week about the mammogram and the results of my LIPIDS test. I took pictures of my blood draw. I kind of wish I had taken pictures while the tech was doing the mammogram. I didn’t think of that until I took this picture.
Once all the fun activities were done, I walked home. I rarely walk along Rt 74, too busy for that nonsense. But I didn’t want to bother anyone for a ride back home after Jarrid dropped me off at Wellspan, in Dover. On my walk home I picked up things along the road that I thought might flatten a tire, looked unusual, or just amused me. I did pick up a 5 foot piece of PVC piping and used it as a walking stick. That worked well and no, I don’t know what I will use the piping for but, I’ll find a use for it.
There were more dead birds along the road than I would have imagined. Are cars hitting them? Seemed like an awful lot of rotting birds along the road.
Here are all the things I came across on my walk home. I’m not sure what everything is, other than a road hazard in West York and Dover.
“You’re welcome” to all vehicular drivers from this area. ~P.

Construction, Overheated, Rain & One Long Needle
Yesterday I made an appointment to see my doctor about my foot. Almost daily, my foot swells up and I have terrible pain, making walking difficult. I was thrilled to get an appointment the next day, before I had to chew my foot off due to the pain.
There is no way possible to travel in York County without getting caught up in the construction. One would think Pennsylvania has the best kept roads and bridges with the constant sight of Penn DOT workers on the roads. Trust me, they are faking work. 😉
I got to Windsor and noticed my car was overheated. Probably from sitting, waiting my turn to get past the Penn DOT workers. Great…so much for making it to my doctor appointment on time. I pull into Rutter’s to let my car cool down. I had a gallon of water in the car, prepared if it should overheat.
When I came back out from getting a YooHoo and a chicken sandwich, there was a stranger beside my car. He had a little bowl of water for Ying and asked me if I needed help with my car. I told him I was waiting for it to cool down before I took the radiator cap off. He had gloves and a rag in his work truck and went to get them, while I got the gallon of water out of my trunk. When he returned, he took care of removing the cap and pouring the water into the tiny little hole. What a nice guy! (and easy on the eyes too!)
One nice deed completed for this guy, on his way home from second shift.
Now I’m back on the road and less than five miles to my doctor’s office. I had called and told them I would be late but I had to let the car cool down, or I wouldn’t be going anywhere in my car in the future. My 92 Honda looks like a piece of crap, but I love this car. I paid $42 for it, it starts every day and it is cheap on gas. As long as I can keep it running, I will drive this car!
So, I finally get to the doctor’s office and they take me back in a timely matter even though I was twenty minutes late. I talked to my doctor, Carl, about my foot hurting again and he decided a cortisone shot was in order. We also discussed what vaccines and immunizations I will need prior to my India trip. He was going to start the vaccines, but the cortisone shot was more important. One shot for the day was enough for me! I take pain well and Carl was impressed. He said, “You didn’t even flinch! And you’re taking pictures too?” I told him after giving birth, not much compares.
- Do needles freak you out?
While we were discussing my foot, Carl noticed the huge bruises on the inside of my thighs. He asked what the heck that was from and I explained. “While trying to impress Tesla, I rode my bicycle down the cement stairs at the park. My leg went under the seat and bruised me. It’s been three days, so it’s not too bad.”
My doctor visit was over and I headed out the door. The sky was so dark; a storm was imminent. I had just posted on Facebook that a storm was brewing and five minutes later it hit. I just love a good storm. The more lightning and thunder, the better. The construction workers, not so much. Here are a few parting shots on my way back home.
The Tuesday night Boot Camp at York Daily Record has been canceled due to the rain. I imagine the field where we exercise is marsh land right now. I couldn’t have participated tonight anyway as my doctor said to take it easy on my foot, especially the first 24 hours. It’s rescheduled for Thursday and I will be there, just not pushing my foot to hard.
How was your day?!
Happy Rainy Tuesday,
~P.
