Over ride rejoice

You know there are days you get out of bed and with in minutes you know it’s going to be a sucky day.

This wasn’t one of those days.   I slide out of bed (tall bed) and was surprised at how chilly it felt.  Grabbing my warm-up pants and Spartan T-shirt I instantly felt warmer.  Padding across the wooden floor I opened my sock drawer and found it empty.  Glancing at the two baskets of clothes waiting to be put away, I padded back to my bed and began rooting through the mismatched socks box.  The lights weren’t even on in the bedroom yet but I didn’t care if my socks matched or not.  I grabbed a white one and reached back in for any other sock that was similar in shape.  Presto!  The sock I grabbed was a match.  Then I knew it was going to be a good day.

I checked my email at school and had a message waiting from me from Dr. Zerbe.  He is higher up on the food chain at school if you know what I mean.  I was in a difficult situation in needed a specific writing class that I had skipped.  I went from writing intro to the 300 level classes.  Dr. Zerbe checked with the professor, Nancy Eshelman about an over ride and she agreed to have an 18th person in her class.  Woohoo!  Christmas came early for me.  Nancy is a great teacher and columnist for The Patriot Times in Harrisburg.

Now only a few more days left until Christmas is here.  I can’t wait for Tesla to get back to PA.  I haven’t heard from her much but her dad is sending pictures.  Soon Tesla and I will have a week together!!

Celebrating early!

4 days left

Very Cool!

Only four days are left until Christmas day.  Where does time go!?

Now that the fall semester at YCP is over and we are just waiting patiently for our grades, it dawns on me how close Christmas Day is.  Tesla is with her Dad, Heather, and all her kidlings.  Somewhere in Erie they are in a water wonderland.  It looks awesome and I’m glad Tesla is having this experience.  Though not receiving any child support since November 23 is frustrating to say the least.

Meanwhile I am home organizing all these notes, bills, school work and more.  It seems endless!  I love seeing the pictures of Tesla and can not wait to see her on Friday.  Christmas Day we are going to my parents.  I only have Tesla until noon.  I would love for John to extend my time until two but I doubt he will agree to that.  We are texting about exchange time now.  I asked him to pick up Tesla at my parents.  I don’t know if he will even agree to that.

sigh…Hohoho

At least Tesla will wake up here Christmas morning!!!

Have you been naughty or nice?

~P.

Oh, for shits and giggles…here is what I signed to visit with Tesla for three hours.

Filling up the Banana Boat

Years of notes…all gathered together.

How often do you need to recall what happened on a specific date? Probably not very often. Imagine if you needed to keep track of everyday for years. I have enough material to write two books.

Yes, I am serious. I think “I Used to Drive a Mercedes” will cover Sept 2004 to 2009. My other book, no title yet will be from 2009 until this divorce nightmare is over.

I guess now that I’ve taken the time to organize the random piles of journals I realize I have quite a bit of writing to do.

Here’s the intimidating pile of journal records. The banana box has room for more. I never know where I will find piles of journal pages.

Ready to write,
~P

40,000

On September 4th I blogged about having 20,000 visits to my website.  Today, roughly three months later the blogsites visits doubled.  Yes doubled.  It feels great to have so many people ringside.

I just finished my New Religious Movements final on cult development.  It took me an extra day after I lost my fucking thumb drive.  I wanted to rip my hair out.  The thumb drive was never located so I started with my three page bullshit draft I posted in October.  http://girlboxer1970.com/2011/10/17/the-church-of-lady-gaga/

Now it is finished and I have to turn it in to Christa Shusko in person by 12:15 PM tomorrow.  I am pretty happy with my final but I won’t be publishing it online.  I have plans to submit it to a magazine or creative writing book.

What else is new….Tesla called me this evening.  She is on her way to Erie with her Dad and rest of the clan.  I visited with Tesla yesterday after school.  I had to pick her up at the house because John doesn’t want me taking Tesla home when I volunteer.  Perhaps he thinks I will show up at Canadocaly and kidnap Tesla.  Like I would ruin my life by breaking the court order.  What good would that do Tesla?

So I signed the paper under duress.  If I didn’t agree to sign it, he was not going to let Tesla leave and if I did leave, I’m sure he would call the police on his cell phone.  Lower Windsor Township is number 3 on his speed dial.  It basically said John was giving me permission to take Tesla away from the house for three hours and I agree to return her at the stated time.  Blah, blah, blah…what the hell is that all about.   It sucks having Tesla see me “sign” to see her. What kind of message does that send? I fail to see any section of the custody order that states I have to sign something every time we get some time together. Yes, I get that any time not on my 2 weekends a month is “technically John’s” but wtf is up with signing?

I feel like I’m checking Tesla out of prison.  I know she feels our time away is now an escape.  She says to me, I can’t stay with you for long.  Daddy said I have to come home.  I told her I knew that and I was sorry but she will visit with me in a week.  A week is a long time she answered and I agreed again.  Then a smile came to her face and she said but we are together now!  I immediately broke out into Tesla’s trophy song.

I get a trophy!  I get a trophy!  Tesla and I are together.  Tesla gets a trophy too!  We giggled our asses off on the way to Chuck E, Cheese and had a blast playing games and eating pizza.

It’s going to a long week until I see my baby girl again.  John said he will let her call me everyday.  Let’s see if he sticks to his promise.

Schools out for Christmas and I wanna blog!

Merry Christmas to my readers!  I love all of you and especially when you comment.  Even if someone says something not so nice, I’m fine with that.  Why?  Because I don’t care what other people think.  🙂  Here’s to 40K visits.  Let’s see how long until it doubles again!

Tired…like barely holding up my head.

Zzzzzz,

~P.

York College Sculpture Parade

The introduction to sculpture class taught by Professor Rebecca Quattrone will parade around campus with their giant puppet sculptures ON MONDAY AT 11 AM.

The theme is “Occupy Wall Street”

Rebecca’s students have been busy this term.  The class was split into two groups by where we sat the first day.  The table I sat at had one person I knew who came in at the last moment and sat beside me.  Christian Geisler….McLoven, the party crasher. http://girlboxer1970.com/2011/09/07/christian/

Also at the table was Alex Gompf http://girlboxer1970.com/2011/12/07/dear-alex/ and Taylor Ivory Lapierre who also hosted the 2011 Spartapalooza Class Spirit games.

Writing a Recommendations Report

York College course Writing in Professional Cultures requires preparing and submitting a recommendation report.  The first step was to choose a topic of concern that interested me.  I chose The Spartan newspaper to determine why the campus newspaper is not circulating and every week there are copies remaining from the previous edition.

The most important part of research is to have an adequate sample of the people affected by chosen topic.  My first attempt was disappointing.  I emailed students with a questionnaire and had a dismal 17 responses.  Because I did not have enough responses to be a sample of the students at York College, I failed.  See how important a fellow students input is when it comes to creating a rec. report?

My second attempt to survey people was successful.  I set up a table outside the student union building one day and another day I set up in the commuter parking lot.  With candy as a reward for filling taking my survey and the possibility of winning a prize of Nestle cocoa, Folgers coffee or a giant margarita glass filled with snacks and a Spartapalooza t-shirt I had 360 responses.  Conclusion:  Bribery works!

Winner of the margarita glass/t-shirt was Sasha Vanegas.

Dear Alex

Dear Alex,

When you warn people with wearing a t-shirt “Careful or you will end up in my novel.” I thought you would listen.  Apparently not.

I manage to do as little in art class as possible. I think I look very handsome in a dead man's tuxedo...

Alex...cool, cute and good at wasting time.

I’m not actually giving you a hard time, my friend.  You are fun to work with on our art project and you do get things finished.  Eventually, I will have a blog about our art class with professor Rebecca including all the photos I’ve taken.

Remember, that sense of humor of yours will take you far…or get you arrested.

York College Spartapalooza 2011

Frank T. Aquilino ~Class of 97

At York College of Pennsylvania, alumnus Frank T. Aquilino ’97 was remembered with a memorial scholarship. He was a bond trader at Cantor Fitzgerald and perished on 9/11/2001.  The 2011 Spartapalooza festival was dedicated in memory of Mr. Aquilino.

This year the Spartapalooza theme was class spirit.  The freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors competed against each other for points to win “Best Class Spirit” award.  The contests varied through-out Grumbaucher Stadium.  Fieldhouse held a bounce house, dizzy bats races, velcro bounce wall, inflatable obstacle race,  thunder stick decorating, $1 black and green festival t-shirts, a scavenger hunt, and much more.

At the swimming pool, the cardboard boat races excited the crowd of spectators.  It didn’t matter who won and who lost….it was all about the boat.  The boat that put on the best show.  Float or sink, the crowd cheered in a frenzy.  A personal favorite was Team “Diddy Dong Racing.” They were the winners of The Titanic Award for their dramatic cardboard vessel sinking to the bottom of the pool.  This YCP team was all juniors: John Meyer, Ryan Hershey, Tom Powell and Mike Shaffer sacrificed their boat to take this win.

Team YCP USA  participated in the cardboard boat races.

The tug of war between classes was fun but also a bit dangerous as the four classes snapped the rubber bands holding the ropes together.  Determining who won was a challenge itself as the band broke, the sophomore class found themselves on the ground.  The points didn’t really matter, having fun did.

I participated in the scavenger hunt which allowed me to meet new people on campus, outside of my scheduled classes.  The game was to take pictures of what was on the list and I managed to find all the items.  The most challenging was the Spartan Helmet which I learned was made by sophomore, Taylor Lapierre.

Lapierre was also in charge of the class spirit games.  I participated in the games with my friend Phil Rearich.  Phil and I had a great time attempting the sack race.  I fell on my face trying to jump in a burlap sack but got right back up.  The freshman team stole our bandana when we reached the three-legged race but we managed to get to the next leg of the race.  With one shoe on and one off, I attempted leap frog with Phil and failed miserably.  I needed a much shorter partner!

The event drew a large number of students, faculty and children to York Campus.  It was a great day to show student spirit and remember a former student lost to terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers.

There was an endless buffet of food and sweet and drinks to keep everyone’s energy up for the afternoon through the evening.  The festival ended around midnight with everyone exhausted!

Great times at YCP,

~P.

My phone rang in gym

My phone rang in gym class, right after we finished our square dance number.  We actually had to dance it 1.5 times because the first try the cd started to skip.  That’s a good way to ruin square dancing.

So the call was from a woman named Holland.  She is now assigned to my case because Mr. Flynn wasn’t returning any of my calls concerning Tesla and my health insurance and  food card.  Imagine my relief learning that we were not losing our benefits after all!

There is someone above looking over me.  It may take time, but everything will work out eventually.

My spirits are lifted,

~P.

Dear John and Heather

Dear John and Heather,

I decided it would be much easier just to address you both in this post.  Though I have made this painfully clear in the past, stop harassing my friends and family.  This includes my boyfriend Dale.

You have no business talking to him.  John, if you must speak to me about something concerning Tesla, I am all ears.  There should be no conversation between you and Dale or Heather and Dale.

The police told you not to harass me.  I didn’t realize I would have to include Dale on the list.  My friends and family don’t care to hear or see you.  (for that matter, no one wants to hear or see Heather either)  Don’t question anyone about Tesla, other than me.  You want to know something, check with her mother.

We all know you are a tough guy and love to be the bully.  Well that must stop.  Making a scene at Tesla’s dance class was just ridiculous.  Yes, I called Dale away from the two of you because I know how you treat people.  Heather is a great copycat of your drama king status.  Neither of you had any business questioning Dale about my where-abouts today.

Heather, I don’t want you throwing your useless and senseless comments in when John and I are trying to have a civil conversation.  I realize you would rather see John and I at each others throats.

The two of you seem set on making this as difficult as possible for me to see Tesla.  You are quick to cause problems that just are trivial and then threaten to sue me for contempt for attending my classes.  That says so much about the two of you.  It saddens me that you both will go out of your way to be negative, hateful and bitter about the wonderful relationship Tesla and I have.  A relationship that neither of you can completely control.  In the end, you will just ruin any thread of a relationship you ever had with Tess, all on your own.

Karma,

~P.
